Jersey Cheese
As you drive into Augusta you are greeted by a giftshop with a mobile cheese making facility outside and a sign saying "watch us make your cheese". This is the home to Gingerbread Jersey, the family cheese making business of Virgil and Carolyn Schunk. They make their colby, flavored jacks, cheddars, and curds from the milk of their own farm's herd. If you visit, you can even watch through a large display as the family makes the cheese. And remember, we get Virgil's fresh curds every Friday morning! |
